I have always loved to dance. As an adult adoptee, a bio mom, and an adoptive mom, I dance between love and loss regularly. I dance with joy over small victories and small signs of acceptance. I dance to escape pain and to avoid obvious rejection from my family(ies). Let me continue to dance with the pain, the understanding, the surrender, His plan, and not faint.

Jamie is an adult adoptee, a wife, a mother of 5, and an adoptive mom of one daughter born in Haiti. She participates as a member of The American Adoption Congress, and over the next two semesters, she will complete and defend her creative writing thesis which explores her experience as an adult adoptee parenting a transracial/transnational adopted daughter. She remains grateful for the opportunity to participate in classes based on Heather Forbes’s and Dr. Bryan Post’s approach to parenting children with a trauma history. She continues to educate adoptive parents in her circle of influence and (on occasion) she speaks to groups of foster/adoptive parents and social workers who work in the field of adoption.

  1. Really enjoy your blog…reading through it as fast as possible!

  2. Just listened to your BlogSpot radio interview with Pam of the AAC and found your blog. I have a brick wall with my bdaughter not “needing” to meet in person. Some of what you wrote helped in understanding her reasons. She has children who may want and “need” to meet me someday though. I don’t know what to think about me contacting them someday.
